I’m a UK psychotherapist working exclusively with clients struggling with overeating disorders.
I’m part of a team of dedicated therapists and counsellors at a busy eating disorders charity, and I also work in private practice.
I use the term “emotion-driven overeating” to encompass the spectrum that includes compulsive eating, emotional eating and binge eating disorder.
I’ve been researching emotion-driven overeating for over 20 years. After decades of my own struggles with binge eating, failed diets, and numerous cycles of weight loss and weight gain, I rejected diet culture, dismantled my diet mentality and found autonomy with eating.
I also dug deep to explore why I turned to food to avoid my feelings, and worked on understanding and meeting my emotional needs. I’m happy to say I’ve enjoyed a calm and natural relationship with food for many years.
Now I help other people make peace with food and themselves.
So, welcome to eatonomy.
No ads, no pop-ups, no autoplay videos.
Just my words and – more importantly – your thoughts, feelings and experiences.
As a highly sensitive person (HSP), I specialise in working with clients who are also highly sensitive. If you’re interested in exploring if you might be a fellow HSP, please click here.
I originally started this blog as a resource for clients but I’m happy my writing seems to strike a chord with people all over the world.
I’m grateful to everyone who reads, likes and comments on my posts – your stories touch me more than you will ever know. Thank you.
