“You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.” – Jon Kabat-Zinn
This month marks 3 years since I started this blog with my very first post “Why Should We Make Peace with Food?”.
What began as a way of conveying some helpful words to clients struggling with emotion-driven overeating has grown into something I couldn’t have imagined.
This month’s theme is “change” and, rather ingeniously, I was planning to tell you I’m making some changes of my own.
I was planning to tell you that, rather than sticking to a weekly blogging schedule, I feel the desire to be more spontaneous.
I was planning to tell you that I’m reducing my writing time because there are other things I want to work on.
I was planning to tell you that I’d much rather surprise you than become stale and predictable.
Then the Covid-19 crisis hit and life has changed dramatically for all of us.
So now what I most want to tell you is I’m still very much here.
In the past week I’ve had to move my practice online and I’d like to say a big thank you to all my clients for their patience and understanding while I figure out the technical stuff.
I may be a little slow responding to emails at the moment as I have a lot to organise, but I’m hoping things will settle down soon.
With the Coronavirus situation unfolding so rapidly, I guess we’ll all just have to learn to surf so we can ride the waves of change.
Stay safe and well, everyone.
Stay home if you can.
Let’s protect ourselves and each other.
With very best wishes,
Julie 🌷

Good for you, same here. It’s the best thing we can do for ourselves, each other and NHS staff.

Really! Well now Boris has laid down his latest rules I’m sure it will slow the virus down. We can only play our own individual part and not let it get us down. We will get through this, meanwhile I intend to enjoy the solitude and paint lots.

The best laid plans, eh?! With such uncertainty and all the unexpected changes, I’m glad you’ll still be here, Julie 😊 Thanks goodness for technology allowing the world to stay connected while we must physically keep to ourselves. I hope you’re well, take care.

Thanks, Karen! Yes, it’s so great we can all stay connected. I also feel very fortunate that I work in a profession that can adapt to the current circumstances, thanks to technology. My family and I are staying at home, hoping we can stay well. Hope you and yours are OK too.

We’re well here and gladly tucked away at home, out for ‘isolated’ walks, nothing else. I’m lucky to be able to work from home too. We’re helping others out a bit, and expect to do more of that as we get adjusted to this odd way of life ourselves. Our cats have never been happier 😊

Congratulations, and thanks for running this blog. You’ve encouraged a lot of people in that time. And, yes, COVID 19 has changed a lot of things for all of us.

If you get stuck technically, post the problem. Wife attended her very first webinar last week, you are not alone!

They split the surgery staff into 2 separate teams, she is off this week but is in next. But hey, I’m not complaining – she is out using the hedge trimmer at the moment! It’s funny because my life hasn’t changed all that much, just because I went out so infrequently anyway. I’m still doing my Telephone Befriending – it took an hour longer last week because … everybody answered! I wish we’d bought more chocolate at the weekend 🙂. It would be a real shame if I were to die and not have really high blood sugar to boot! You doing okay?

Doing well, thanks, just very busy! I’m glad to hear you do Telephone Befriending – what a wonderful thing to offer people and I can understand you must be super busy with it at the moment. I’m OK on the chocolate front – I still have my giant Toblerone from Christmas! Take care and stay well.

Not really – I just have some when I feel like it. I’ve had other chocolate since Christmas.

Firstly, congratulations on the milestone, and all the wonderful support you bring to so many people, you should be very proud. Secondly, I really hope all goes smoothly with work and moving things online. Thirdly, and very importantly, please stay safe & well lovely. It’s such a worrying time right now and very bizarre. ♥ xx

Thank you so much, Caz, I’m not sure where the past 3 years has gone. It’s going OK with moving my work online (bar a few technical hitches). I’m just so glad to be able to continue offering support and, with so many self-employed people struggling with income, I’m grateful I can still work. Thank you also for your concern. My family and I are just staying at home, with occasional trips to the supermarket. Actually, it’s my daughter’s birthday today so we’re about to have some champagne! I hope you are safe and well – as you say, it’s a worrying time and things will get worse before they get better. We just all have to do the right thing. Take care and many thanks for your comment.

We are indeed 😊 self distancing and keeping as busy as we can be under the circumstances. There is a beauty in the entire world being in the same boat… all in this together…😐💕
